Zambia

With a diverse population, the country of Zambia, located in the southern part of Africa, has over 70 different ethnic groups. The plateau terrain, scattered with hills and mountains, supports a very tropical climate with a rainy season from October to April.

Farming is the way of life for the majority of the population who are struggling to survive, while others have found work in the mines. With copper prices declining and rising food and fuel prices, unemployment is a huge problem for what is considered to be one of the nation’s poorest countries.

With over one third of the population living with AIDS, it is one of the greatest problems that they face. The epidemic will continue to affect all aspects of the country, especially the development of the economy and culture.
